Carmen Birdsall self confirmed foodie and creator of Little Cakes, has turned her passion for baking and creating into little bits of magic packed with homebaked goodness all in the heart of Gaithersburg!
What started as whipping up tasty treats for friends and family gatherings has quickly become requests from neighbors and friends of friends asking about these little creations. In response to those inquiries this site has been created... a personal website for your viewing pleasure.
Delicious is what Little Cakes prides itself in...Little cakes are truly tasty and pretty... all natural ingredients, real milk, real butter...homebaked goodness with a wow factor.
An avid home entertainer, Cupcakes always seemed to be part of the dessert menu... an added touch of whimsy to an elegant dinner party, a creative act of love and labor for a family baby shower, dainty sweets at teaparties, cupcakes even turned in to "pup"cakes at a puppy's 1st birthday party.
The cupcake obsession was born in the 70's with this creative cook and well... quite frankly never went away!

You may recall the days of simple vanilla or chocolate cupcakes topped with sprinkles and served for childrens birthday parties...well the cupcake has grown up. The cupcake has transformed into the "new" dessert, the whole whats old is new thing, though we don't recall the cupcake not being vogue...You will now find them at Weddings, Cocktail parties and the all types of soirees.
Where did they come from?
Cupcakes were invented in the 1800's. Fairy Cakes...Cupcakes...Measure cakes, were believed to have come about through the practice of the ingredients used to make them were measured using a standards sized cup instead of weighing the ingredients. The fact that they were baked in cup shaped tins probably help enforce the use of the name- cupcake.
